Erica Engfer Pizza began her residency in The Itsy Bitsy Art Gallery on July 28, 2019. She says of her exhibition Slow Down, “In our fast paced lives of so much doing and not enough BEING, my itsy-bitsy work celebrates slowing down, taking it all in, and finding beauty in the everyday.”
About Erica: “I explore new ways to render simplified imagery with the intention of challenging the viewer's perceptions of everyday objects. My experiences promote making that documents and enhances phenomenon of our world through printing, collaging, assembling, and papermaking. My experimentation with these materials influences the work I manifest and the making process is evident in the final product. I believe there is something to be said for the series of actions that lead to a particular result and often convey this through repetition in my work. As a proud public high school art teacher and the recipient of two grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, I am grateful to share my experience and expertise with teenagers every day and am inspired by their creativity and willingness to learn.”
