Amy contacted her alma mater, Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School, back in the fall when we put out a call for artists for the Tiny Book Show. The art teachers there responded immediately and said they were IN! They challenged their Honors Art students to make a miniature book for the show (outside of regular class time) and more than 20 students rose to the challenge and submitted books.
It was an honor and a privilege to attend their Spring Fest this past Saturday and meet many of the student authors and their parents, as well as others who gathered on the high school baseball field to celebrate Earth Day and creativity. There were student performances, a demonstration of a saw mill that the wood shop teacher uses to teach students how to plane logs for custom wood projects, a lot of art, some food trucks, and, of course, our tiny books.
Our intern, Travis, joined us for the day so he could get an idea of how the days will look this summer, and the three of us set up our mobile museum and our tiny book-making workshop and spent the day greeting students and their families and showing off the 322 works of art in our collection. Here are just a few of the students' books. We are so proud to have them with us.
