Randi Stein (Maya's momma) wrote to tell us where her 10 lines were leading her these days:
My "ten lines" are actually ten minutes-- a drawing practice I began five days ago. Of course it wasn't a "practice" yet five days ago, just a sudden desire to use a particular drawing pad I had bought weeks before-- 8"x8" paper-bag brown paper, in a spiral-bound notebook. It suddenly was irresistible. So I set up a little still-life on my dining room table, and gave myself ten minutes-- maybe influenced by Maya's ten-line Tuesdays-- to draw. It was fun! So I did it again the next day, and the next...and realized I may have found what I've been looking for for years, a daily practice I just might be able to stick to--- and even enjoy. So I'm keeping my colored pencils and a little box of watercolors and even a small box of papers and glue, should I be inspired to produce a collage still-life. The narrow shelves in my dining room hold an embarrasing number of "tchochkes", so I don't think I'll run out of ideas anytime soon!
