The Itsy Bitsy Art Gallery featuring the work of Erica Engfer Pizza will open at the Denville Farmer’s Market! Erica will be our second resident artist in the gallery. She will present her new series “Slow Down” of which she says, “In our fast paced lives of so much doing and not enough BEING, my itsy-bitsy work celebrates slowing down, taking it all in, and finding beauty in the everyday.”
The opening reception of the exhibit will be held on Sunday July 28, from 8:30 AM to 1 PM. Come meet Erica, marvel at her her gorgeous miniature artwork, and have some teeny tiny pizzas. The market is located at the Bloomfield Avenue parking lot in downtown Denville.
Erica Engfer Pizza, Artist’s Statement: I explore new ways to render simplified imagery with the intention of challenging the viewer's perceptions of everyday objects. My experiences promote making that documents and enhances phenomenon of our world through printing, collaging, assembling, and papermaking. My experimentation with these materials influences the work I manifest and the making process is evident in the final product. I believe there is something to be said for the series of actions that lead to a particular result and often convey this through repetition in my work. As a proud public high school art teacher and the recipient of two grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, I am grateful to share my experience and expertise with teenagers every day and am inspired by their creativity and willingness to learn.
