Exquisite corpse (from the original French term cadavre exquis) is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule or by being allowed to see only the end of what the previous person contributed.
In this variation (inspired by artists Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao), instead of words or drawings, we will create collaborative collages using patterned paper we make based on shapes, patterns, and outlines we find in nature. Each person will create a sequence of cut painted-paper shapes, then we will “play” a game together by working back and forth with a partner to paste the pieces together one at a time - as you would play a game of checkers or chess.
