Creation is an act of resistance. "Throughout history, culture and art have always been the celebration of freedom under oppression."
- Author unknown
When Stephen Pressfield wrote the WAR of ART in 2002, he was writing about breaking through the inner resistance we all face as artists and makers. The blocks that block us.
But art can also be a form of passionate and uncompromising resistance - and making with our own two hands can give us the tools and space for community building, healing, and redefinition/evolution. So join us once a month for a Creative R(evolution). Bring a project - knitting, sewing, painting, drawing, hand lettering, carving, collage. Bring a snack to share!
Settle into our cozy space with a community of other makers and share your stories, make new friends, and gather around the creative fires.
Creative R(evolution) evenings are free and open to the public but we gladly accept donations in our Karma Jar to help keep our doors open!
This Thursday we'll open our doors all day for Creative R(evolution) for any women who are heading to a Women's March in any city this weekend and want a place to make signs or posters and want to be with other women who are resisting. We'll have some poster board, but please bring more if you have it. We've got paint, pens, markers, and everything else you need to decorate and create signs for the weekend. Our doors will be open from 12 Noon til 8 PM.
